Pediatric Dental Services

At the Sechelt Dental Centre, we are proud to provide gentle, comprehensive dental care for children of all ages. We focus on creating a positive experience while supporting your child’s long-term oral health.

 Our pediatric services include:

Routine dental exams and polishings every six months help maintain healthy teeth and gums. We also review brushing and flossing techniques with your child to build great oral hygiene habits from an early age.

We recommend the first visit around your child’s first birthday. These early appointments help your child feel comfortable at the dentist and give us an opportunity to guide parents on diet, teething, and daily oral care routines.

Protect your child’s smile during sports and recreational activities with professionally fitted mouthguards designed for comfort and safety.

Using the diode dental laser, we can perform minimally invasive procedures to release tongue or lip ties.

We offer removable appliances, braces, and clear aligner options. Early intervention may prevent more severe orthodontic problems later.

If your child experiences a dental emergency such as a toothache, injury, or broken tooth, we are available to provide prompt, compassionate care when it is needed most.

How We Help Children Feel At Ease

We have dentists at the clinic recognised for excellence in working with pediatric patients. Our aim is to help families and children feel comfortable in our office, celebrating the small steps and leaving them feeling like they have had a positive experience.

We are happy that many pediatric patients, who otherwise may have had to travel to Vancouver for treatment, are able to be well cared for locally at our clinic.

Occasionally we will recommend the treatment be performed with nitrous oxide sedation using the “silhouette” system (a small and unobtrusive delivery system we call the “happy nose”), or we may also recommend an oral sedative to help with a child’s anxiety.

While we strive to provide care for patients of all ages, there are times when completing dental treatment for a child in our general practice may not be the best option. In cases where a child may be especially anxious, require complex treatment, or would benefit from a more specialized setting, we may recommend a referral to our network of pediatric dental specialists on the Lower Mainland.

We invite children to enjoy the play area when they arrive. We have books dedicated to preparing children for their dental visit, and colouring materials available.  Children also love choosing a surprise from the treasure chest after each appointment!
