Dr. Lorne Berman has now retired from clinical practice. Lorne was the former owner and principal operator of the Sechelt Dental Centre, where he had practiced with passion and dedication for over 50 years and whose creative vision contributed to the practice you see today.
Dr. Berman graduated from the University of Toronto in the 1970’s and came to B.C. for his first position, working for the provincial government in remote underserved communities, using portable equipment he carried in his VW van. A chance camping trip to the Sunshine Coast led to the offer of an Associate position in Sechelt. Shortly after accepting this opportunity and forgoing his plan to return to dental school for specialty training in Oral Surgery, Dr. Berman became the new owner of the Sechelt Dental Centre. For much of his career he also worked with Vancouver Coastal Heaalth, attending patients at Sechelt Hospital, and residents of Shorncliffe and Totem Lodge.
In 2020, Dr. Berman received the Merit Award from the British Columbia Dental Association, an honour recognizing individuals whose achievements have made significant contributions to the dental profession—locally, provincially, or nationally—and who demonstrate exceptional dedication to community service or advancing dental health.
